Kids Place is the largest, licensed childcare facility in Scott County, offering education and nurturing for children 6 weeks through the 5th grade. Kids Place is also an accredited program. Kids Place provides developmentally appropriate childcare and preschool services in a safe and supportive environment. New Hope Services received the Governor’s Showcase Award for Kids Place as a model of development services for children.
Kids Place was established in Scottsburg in October 1988 with local fundraising gifts from the community and grants from the Crusade for Children and Ronald McDonald Foundation. Kids Place is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
Kids Place Philosophy
Kids Place functions as a family-friendly, family-driven daycare program that seeks to remain sensitive to the needs of individual families.
Kids Place Hours: 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Staff: Kids Place staff includes college degreed staff and child development staff.
Age Groups: Kids Place offers five separate classrooms for five age groups:
- Infant Room
- 2 year olds
- 3 year olds
- 4 year olds
- 5 year olds.
- Kids Place also provides preschool and after-school care for Kindergarten age children through fifth grade.
Transportation: Kids Place utilizes two 14 passenger buses for day trips and social outings. Transportation is also provided for the school age children K-5th grade for travel to and from the local schools.
In addition to providing preschool and daycare, Kids Place is well-equipped to offer quality services to ALL children with varying abilities at a "One Stop Shop" facility.
Kids Place is the only Scott County facility equipped to fully accommodate special needs children and their families. Special needs may include autism, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, down syndrome and emotional or behavioral issues. The additional on-site supportive services of Family Support, Healthy Families the WIC Program and the Children's Health Clinic assist in addressing the needs of the entire family.
Educationally inclusive programming based on state approved preschool curriculum provides every child with equal opportunities and the chance to develop empathy for others, resulting in no child being left behind.
